Thursday April 20 9 am - What is the CRS / Community Rating System? - VT Floodplain Manager Drop-In Discussion

Please join us on Thursday April 20 at 9 am to talk about CRS. the Community Rating System.

CRS is a program of the National Flood Insurance Program that acknowledges the extra work that communities take to systematically reduce damage from flooding.  Communities that do more work are able to get deeper discounts on flood insurance premiums.  This in turn helps more people carry adequate flood insurance.

We’ll do a quick introduction to the CRS program, and we’ll be joined by Audra Brown, the CRS Coordinator for Montpelier. Six communities in Vermont currently participate in the program.

The Drop-In Discussions are informal gatherings on the third Thursday of the month from 9 – 10 am hosted by VTDEC’s River Corridor and Floodplain Protection program.  No registration is required.  Come on by!

To support casual dialogue the discussions are not video-recorded.   The discussions support the work of municipal officials who are responsible for floodplain and river corridor regulations, and others who are involved in the work of flood resilience in Vermont.

If you have questions about the event, or using Teams, feel free to reach out to ned.swanberg@vermont.gov

Future invitations to the Drop In Discussions will be posted to the Flood Resilience Listserv and also as News on www.floodready.vt.gov
