Legal clinics scheduled to help those affected by Vermont’s summer flooding
The Vermont Law and Graduate School and Legal Services Vermont, a nonprofit legal aid organization, are hosting a series of monthly legal clinics to assist Vermont business owners affected by this summer’s floods.
The clinics will focus on long-term relief efforts such as FEMA appeals and landlord-tenant assistance.
The two organizations have already hosted six clinics, and are offering more as a result of high demand, according to a news release from VLGS.
If applicable, attendees should come prepared with receipts of repairs, replacements and lodging if displaced from flooding, insurance information that includes replies or settlements related to a claim, household income information, documentation sent or received to FEMA or the U.S. Small Business Administration, and pictures of before and after the flood if accessible.
The dates and locations of the clinics are:
■Dec. 14 in Barre, Vt., from 2 to 5:45 p.m. at Aldrich Public Library; 6 Washington St.
■Jan. 11 in Ludlow, Vt., from 1 to 4:45 p.m. at Fletcher Memorial Library, 88 Main St.
■Feb. 8 in Waterbury, Vt., from 1:45 to 5 p.m. at Waterbury Public Library; 28 North Main St.
■March 14 in Hardwick, Vt., from 2 to 6 p.m. in the Hardwick Memorial Building; 20 Church St.
The monthly clinics will rotate back to Barre after Hardwick, with dates not yet announced.
