Please join us on Thursday February 20 at 9 am to talk about community flood response plans. Jon Copans, the Executive Director of the Montpelier Commission for Recovery and Resilience (MCRR) will introduce what’s been developing in Montpelier since the flooding in July 2023.
Most communities annually update their Local Emergency Management Plan (LEMP). However, the basic LEMP doesn’t capture the what, where, when, how, or who, needed to effectively reduce the last minute impacts of flooding in our towns.
The MCRR has been drafting a Montpelier Action Plan for Local Emergency connecting community members with local organizations and city departments. Who does what? What can we learn?

The Drop-In Discussions are informal gatherings on the third Thursday of the month from 9 – 10 am hosted by VTDEC’s River Corridor and Floodplain Protection program. No registration is required. Come on by!
The discussions support the work of municipal officials who are responsible for floodplain and river corridor regulations, and others who are involved in the work of flood resilience in Vermont. To support casual dialogue the discussions are not recorded.
If you have questions about the event, or using Teams, feel free to reach out to ned.swanberg@vermont.gov
Future invitations to the Drop In Discussions will be posted to the Flood Resilience Listserv and also as News on www.floodready.vt.gov
