Register by 6/9 for Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM) Exam 6/23

The Vermont Agency of Natural Resources (VTANR) will be hosting a Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM) exam on 6/23/2017.  The exam will be held from 1-4pm in Montpelier, VT at the VTANR main office at 1 National Life Drive.   If you or someone you know may be interested in sitting for the exam, please have them contact me (rebecca.pfeiffer@vermont.gov) with any questions.  Please feel free to share this announcement with any person or other groups that I may have missed.

Here's a  short animation from France that beautifully captures the Vermont Rivers Program mission to make human and natural communities safe and healthful through the protection of natural flows, floodplains and meandering rivers.

This type of river management is practiced in Vermont.

New Map Tool: Acquisitions of Buildings in Flood Hazard Zones

Two-Rivers Ottauquechee Regional Commission (TRORC) has released a dynamic map showing work around Vermont to acquire homes and other buildings in the high risk Special Flood Hazard Area to reduce damage from flooding or respond to substantial damage.

This map, composed by Pete Fellows, TRORC GIS Manager and Planner, uses fusion tables to provide updated information on the status of this effort.
