FEMA Region 1 has recently initiated the early stages of flood map updates in Vermont.
Six communities in Vermont participate in the FEMA Community Rating System (CRS) and together save $76,142 per year on flood insurance premiums.
There are three new open application periods for hazard mitigation/flood resilience projects through FEMA’s Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP) and the Pre-Disaster Mitigation (PDM) and Flood Mitigation Assistance (FMA) grant programs.
FloodTraining.vermont.gov is now fully available for administrative officers (AO) of municipal flood hazard and river corridor bylaws. The site features tools and case studies for AOs, members of Development Review Boards and other community officials.
